On detecting absolute quantum mechanical phase differences with superfluid interferometers

چکیده

We show through numerical simulations that absolute quantum mechanical phase differences could be observed using an asymmetric superfluid quantum interference grating. By balancing the dynamic range and the degree of change required per period in an interference pattern, a device could be optimized and used to probe heretofore inaccessible quantum subtleties. We make connections to experimental results and discuss possible applications for such systems. & 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Superfluid 4He quantum interference grating.

We report the first observation of quantum interference from a grating structure consisting of four weak link junctions in superfluid 4He. We find that an interference grating can be implemented successfully in a superfluid matter wave interferometer to enhance its sensitivity while trading away some of its dynamic range. We also show that this type of device can be used to measure absolute qua...

Superfluid 4 He interferometer operating near 2 K

We report the observation of quantum interference in superfluid He. The interferometer, an analog of a dc-superconducting quantum interference device SQUID , employs a recently reported phenomenon wherein superfluid He exhibits Josephson frequency oscillations in an array of submicron apertures. An interference pattern is generated by reorienting the loop of the superfluid “SQUID” with respect ...

Low Power and Low Latency Phase-‎Frequency Detector in Quantum-Dot ‎Cellular Automata Nanotechnology

Nowadays, one of the most important blocks in telecommunication circuits is the frequency synthesizer and the frequency multipliers. Phase-frequency detectors are the inseparable parts of these circuits. In this paper, it has been attempted to design two new structures for phase-frequency detectors in QCA nanotechnology. The proposed structures have the capability of detecting the phase ...

Superfluid helium quantum interference devices: present status and future prospects

The development of superfluid weak links has led both to the discovery of new physical phenomena and also to the development of superfluid helium quantum interference devices (SHeQUIDs). We describe the physics underlying the SHeQUID and present a brief overview of the current state of this promising technology. Superfluid 4He and 3He are described by the Landau two fluid model [1] augmented by...
